WEARING VINTAGE

25 September 2012

Jumper, Shorts, Belt & Necklace - Vintage  |  Boots - AllSole  |  Bag - H&M  |  Headband - Crown & Glory

I love vintage clothing, but it is a rarity like today that the majority of my outfit is! The pain with being 5 ft 2 and generally rather petite, is that buying clothes is usually a nightmare. It's not unusual to find me picking up staple items from the kids section (it's so much cheaper, don't you know!) and ordering online typically means several returns before I get a perfect fit. Vintage clothes, despite my love and adoration for them, rarely - for whatever reason - are found in my size. So when I see something that will fit, it's a dead cert I'll buy it like these shorts from Wilderness Festival and this bow print jumper from a charity shop!

I think it's ever so funny that there are no passers by in these photos; it's the same street of independent lovely shops that I talked about in an post a week or two ago (click the link if you don't recall!) and it was so busy! Lots of people gawping at me as I posed and leapt on to the window ledge I'm sitting on; anything for a good picture, eh! Good thing I'm rather used to being stared at nowadays and no longer get embarrassed; I can practically see all you fellow fashion bloggers nodding in agreement.. Thanks to Rich for the photos

  1. I love how laid back and cool this outfit is. I definitely understand the issues with being short and finding vintage clothes. I tailor pretty much any vintage thing I find. I haven't tried kids' sizes in staple pieces. Maybe I should? I think having boobs might be an issue with some kids' clothes? haha

  2. Love this outfit, perfect for autumn days - I'm definitely going to go back to wearing shorts with tights until it gets really cold! I'm also a fan of picking up bargains in the kids' department - one of the few fashion advantages to being 5'2! x

  5. Glad some agrees about the stress of finding clothes that fit a petite frame! It's impossible to find nice nice pieces in small sizes! Find that vintage in smaller sizes tends to be loads more expensive too! Love this post & pics are beaut <3

  13. I know exactly what you mean about being small and petite. I'm only 5ft tall and usually struggle to find clothes that fit just right for me too. That's probably why I don't own hardly anything vintage which is a real shame.
