BLUE VELVET

8 January 2013

Coat and Scarf - Primark | Dress - Lavish Alice | Cardigan - New Look
Shoes - Sarenza | Bag - Vintage | Hair Bow - Crown and Glory

I can't help but think that there's little more whimsy and rather serene that a walk in a forest. Rich and I drove to a local country park to have a wander and of course to take Fleur for a stroll. The beauty of this particular country park is that it's a forest that sits right next to a river, so the views are spectacular! When I was prancing around, walking along fallen trees and what not, this dress, heidi braids and glitter bow clip combo made me feel like I could be in a written adventure of sorts! Though, I must admit at some of the muddier spots along the trails, I did wish I'd popped on my wellies rather than my tapestry shoes! That's just like me though; inappropriate footwear for life.

I have some wonderful news, that, if you follow me on twitter you may already have seen. I'd been tweeting about a job interview I'd had and how I'd been waiting to hear the outcome. Despite many of you asking, I wanted to keep it a bit hush so as not to jinx it (I don't know why, I'm not superstitious, but y'know). So, as I tweeted yesterday, I only went and got the bloomin' job! That's right, my dream job, all mine. I can't quite believe it. Now of course, I feel in the position to she'd some light on it! I don't think many people know what I do. So many bloggers work in fashion, beauty or pr that quite often people have presumed I do too! Though, I do do some freelance styling work, so I'll forgive you for thinking that. Full time in my 'proper job', I am actually a nurse. The dream job I was speaking about, is a job as a palliative care nurse. Palliative care is care of the terminally ill. The job is in a hospice, where I've wanted to work for forever. It's a very difficult job to get that doesn't come up very often, hence why I'm so over the moon! So now you know what I do at the other side of this blog! ;)

For me of course, 2013 seems to have got off to a wonderful start! I wish I had this outfit on right now; the classic shape of the Lavish Alice royal blue, velvet dress with the beautiful Crown and Glory glitter bow seem like the perfect outfit to swish around in celebration! Swish swish.

  19. Wow I had no idea you were a nurse, it is silly to make assumptions about someone's job based on their hobby but it's true I always expect bloggers to do something fashion related! Congratulations on good luck with the new job!
