My oh my, how the six month mark has crept up upon us! Seeing as September 20th is only a stones throw away, be prepared for sneak peeks in to our wedding plans and getting in on all the excitement from the comfort of your bed/sofa/*insert current location here*. As it seems a rather appropraite place to start, I present to you our save the dates! We always knew we wanted to make everything ourself and these cards were no exception. If you're wondering how to make your own save the dates, or are looking for some save the date inspiration then you've come to the right place.
Asking a dear friend to take a trip with us to a nearby woods for a picnic with my polaroid camera in tow, our image was captured (plus my finger prints added, whoops) and the rest came to me as I sat at my iMac. Being a dab hand with photoshop and design in general (even if I do say so myself), I managed to whip these up in a jiffy, with Rich keeping the teapot filled and giving his opinion where needed.
I had them printed by Moo.com as postcards, because you can be sure of the fabulous quality and the service is second to none. I never questioned which company would print them as I've used Moo for my business cards time and time again. I would recommend them to any of you looking for save the date postcards or new blog business cards! As a little treat to you guys, if you click this link you can get 10% off on anything you order - don't say I never treat you!
Inside our save the date envelopes, we included some heart shaped sequins (because who doesn't like being showered with glittery goodness) and for the special people in our life, hand-stamped luggage tags asking them to be bridesmaids or groomsmen (read: my hands were covered in ink for days afterwards). We sealed them with some striped washi tape (decorative stationary lovers unite) and popped them in the post and through doors. We didn't have to wait patiently for long before squeals of excitement met us!
It had been our plan from the start to keep our wedding date a firm secret until our save the dates went out, to surprise all of our loved ones with something in the post rather than them hearing it in coversation. If you're looking for creative ways to ask your bridesmaids and groomsmen to be involved, we would wholeheartedly recommend this - ours got a double whammy of excitement with the wedding date and asking to be involved all at once! Now, I'd better start designing our actual invitations! ;) x
