5 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR OWN LUCK

making your own luck charms

Whether you personally believe in luck or not, every day people hope for it, hoping for it to make things happen that they don’t think they can do themselves. I’m guilty of having ‘lucky’ trinkets and charms that I hang on to, whether they make a blind bit of difference – I don’t know. What I DO know is, you can do anything if you put your mind to it. I firmly believe, that people don’t get lucky in life by chance. The only difference between those lucky people and you, is that they realise how fabulous they are. Whether you believe it or not, you are one of those fabulous, lucky people too. I have five handy tips for you to help you on your way to making your own luck, and to make your dreams come true (lucky clover necklace not required, but sure does look pretty).

#1. Set yourself goals. What are your dreams or aspirations? Where do you want to get to and what do you want to do? If there was such a thing as luck and you had all of it in the world, what would you use it on today? That’s your goal, big or small. Now, write it down – whether it’s the proverbial back of the napkin, a scrap of paper, or a cute notebook – put pen to paper so you know exactly what you’re aiming for.

#2. Set timescales. Make them achievable and be kind to yourself. Give yourself longer than you think you may really need because for one thing, it’ll be a nice surprise if you meet your goals more quickly and two, you’ll only become disheartened when you don’t meET your unachievable time scale. Use short, medium and long term goals to make yourself an action plan. How will you meet these goals?

#3. Work smarter not harder. Sometimes it’s not always about working harder than you are now, but it’s about trying new ways to get things done. Be innovative – take a step back and look at what you’re doing with new eyes.

#4. Say yes. Now, before I start chanting ‘yes man, yes man, yes man’, like from the namesake film – just get out there and do it. It’s not always easy but when you do, you will be surprised at the opportunities that come your way. You will always have a new story to tell. After all, in 10 years time you won’t remember that early night you got after watching that box set, but you might remember the super cool contact you made when you accepted an invitation out on a whim. Opportunity is all around.

#5. See serendipity everywhere. Serendipity – the simple, fortunate events or pleasant surprises that brighten our days but I’m not looked for. The first word written in a crisp new notebook, a much needed cup of tea, a smile from a stranger on the street, unexpected kindness, anything at all. Be grateful for and you will realise how much luck you already have.
